Tallan’s data science & AI practice helps our clients to get clarity in ambiguous scenarios. We support clients at every stage in their machine learning journey, from ideation and use-case identification, through model building, all the way to production grade machine learning systems and MLOps.

As a Machine Learning Engineer at Tallan, you will build robust, production grade machine learning systems, and use MLOps best practices to give our clients confidence in the performance of those systems. You will apply DevOps practices to automate and monitor the retraining and deployments of ML models. You will also work to further develop out internal MLOps IP, and take ownership of deploying the solution to clients.

Responsibilities

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Build production grade machine learning pipelines using Azure Machine Learning Studio, Databricks, or appropriate open-source tools.
  • Build retraining and deployment DevOps pipelines
  • Implement appropriate monitoring methodologies to detect infrastructure failures, data drift, and concept drift.
  • Develop the architecture for machine learning deployments in cloud environments
  • Guide clients to the correct deployment methodology for their application – for example batch inference vs real-time inference
  • Work with data scientists and data engineers to ensure they understand the integration points with your designed system

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Minimum qualifications for this job include:

  • Demonstrated understanding of machine learning workflows
  • Experience performing at least two production grade machine learning deployments in a professional setting
  • Understanding of DevOps processes such as release management, CI/CD, build pipelines
  • Strong skills with containerization technologies such as Docker
  • Strong python and SQL skills
  • Experience with ongoing monitoring of machine learning or statistical systems after deployment
  • Understanding of unit testing and integration testing
  • Able to use data to effectively communicate results and outcomes to technical and non-technical personnel
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, or commensurate professional experience

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure Machine Learning Studio and/or Databricks
  • Experience with NoSQL database systems
  • Knowledge of other languages such as R, Scala, C#
  • Experience integrating with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience with Kubernetes
