Tallan’s data science & AI practice helps our clients to get clarity in ambiguous scenarios. We support clients at every stage in their machine learning journey, from ideation and use-case identification, through model building, all the way to production grade machine learning systems and MLOps.

As a data scientist at Tallan, you will help our clients to navigate uncertainty. You will use your experience to help our clients identify and prioritize appropriate use cases for data science solutions. You will choose the right statistical or machine learning models to solve challenging, real-world business problems. Finally, you will productionize your solutions so that they can be deployed within Tallan’s deployment frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to identify and prioritize appropriate business use cases for machine learning
  • Leverage state of the art algorithms using the latest methods and technologies to solve real-world business problems
  • Implement algorithms at scale and automate data science workflows
  • Combine experience from different quantitative fields to solve problems
  • Communicate results effectively to our clients
  • Be an organizational change agent who can help socialize the adoption of data science solutions with non-technical and technical personnel
  • Bring ideas from your experience and customer engagements to enhance Tallan’s internal delivery IP
  • Continuously learn – benefit from our team and from external learning sources
  • Be willing to participate in client facing sales and marketing activities, which may include presenting at seminars focused on using technology to address business challenges, or meeting with client teams.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated understanding of machine learning
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical analysis and predictive modeling
  • Good knowledge of Python and data science specific libraries (eg scikit-learn, tensorflow, pandas, scipy, statsmodels, seaborn)
  • Experience querying SQL databases
  • Able to use data to effectively communicate results and outcomes to technical and non-technical personnel
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, or commensurate professional experience

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Formal education (degree, bootcamp) in data science or an adjacent field (eg computer science, mathematics)
  • Experience with cloud data science platforms such as Azure ML Studio or Amazon Sagemaker
  • Experience with an Apache Spark platform such as Databricks
  • Experience with NoSQL database systems
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies
  • Knowledge of other languages such as R, Scala, C#
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau
