We’re thrilled to share that the Georgia General Assembly’s new public website was recently named the Online Democracy Award winner by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL). This is the third time a legislature has received this honor while using Tallan’s Legislative Management solutions. Massachusetts won the award twice before, in 2013 and 2018. Tallan is working with the Georgia General Assembly on a legislative system upgrade and the redesigned public site is the first component to go live.
The LINCS/NALIT Online Democracy Award is given each year to a legislature, legislative chamber or caucus whose website helps make democracy user-friendly.

The Online Democracy Award was presented during the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Base Camp event, with thousands of state legislators, businesses, technology, and other public leaders from across the country joining to discuss state issues and technology for promoting democracy. NCSL’s Legislative Information and Communications Staff Section (LINCS) and National Association of Legislative Information Technology (NALIT) selected Georgia’s website for its accessibility and professional presentation. The Online Democracy Award recognizes state legislative websites that connect citizens to their governments, ensuring democracy is user-friendly.
“This prestigious honor from the National Conference of State Legislatures is further evidence of the General Assembly’s commitment to ensuring a transparent legislative process,” said Senate President Pro Tempore Butch Miller. “The new tools and features on our new website, including a more easily navigable schedule, more powerful advanced search capabilities and additional accessibility features, all work to make it as seamless as possible for a citizen to find any information they may need. I am proud of the work done by Senate staff, our colleagues in the House and our Information Technology department as they coordinated with Tallan to make this website upgrade a success.”
“We are excited for the Georgia General Assembly, and proud to help them deliver this high level of service to the people of Georgia. The award recognizes their dedication to transparency and innovation, and we’re honored to be at their side as the upgrade project advances.”

“From live streaming committee meetings to modernizing our website, the Georgia General Assembly continues to work to make the legislative process more accessible,” said House Speaker David Ralston. “This prestigious award recognizes those efforts and honors our staff who have worked so hard to launch this new, updated website. It has never been easier to learn about or participate in the legislative process in Georgia.”
