Our monthly Tech Talks are part of an internal initiative aimed at enlightening and educating multiple divisions of the Tallan team. Each Tech Talk, one of our developers presents on the various platforms, applications and technologies that benefit our customers. At Tallan, we’re firm believers in honing our skills as developers through continuing education.
On October 28, 2020, Kevin Morillo, Tallan Senior Consultant, presented a webinar on UnifyCloud’s CloudRecon tool, which we’ve defined below. For a more comprehensive overview, check out our Application Accelerator or click here to learn more about Tallan’s Cloud Consulting Services.
UnifyCloud’s CloudRecon tool is part of the broader CloudAtlas suite, which focuses on making our customer’s transition to Azure as painless as possible. The primary benefit of CloudRecon is its ability to ‘suck in’ hardware inventory and usage data from a variety of sources, that in turn provide an accurate sizing and cost analysis necessary to guide users in the right direction. CloudRecon reviews data in order to provide insight that otherwise could take extraneous time to achieve. By pulling in inventory information, teams working on a migration may discern how to prioritize what tasks need to be done in order to establish a practical cloud strategy founded in data.

In addition to the ability to draw in inventory information, CloudRecon can consolidate cost, performance information and server usage from several different tools. Whether you’re using Movere, ServiceNow or other similar tools, CloudRecon will bring in data and cleanly present it within a straightforward dashboard. For those considering a migration, CloudRecon gives a highly accurate idea of the difference in cost between your current on-premises environment and Azure. CloudRecon also does a great job of representing the different licensing options, allowing an assessment to be customized in order to convey accurate pricing that aligns with the pricing produced by the Azure App calculator.
With CloudRecon, comprehensive inventory assessments are produced with thorough attention to detail. It’s a highly effective way to instantly and automatically gauge your current framework, including physical servers, virtual servers and databases.

Tallan has partnered with UnifyCloud to integrate these tools into our cloud migration assessments. CloudRecon greatly aids us as an organization in cutting time down on our migration project assessments and opportunities.
