On December 2nd Microsoft announced cutting edge data & analytics service Azure Purview. The announcement was part of a digital presentation that featured Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella among other industry leaders. Azure Purview’s release arrives at a time when data & analytics has proven to be an increasingly crucial aspect in how businesses manage, share and gain insight from information. With compliance requirements in near constant flux, having a ‘jack of all trades’ service is a must for businesses. Azure Purview delivers.
Purview is a revamped method of consolidated data governance offering automated discovery via semantic search, data location insight, and unified mapping, all under the Azure name, which stands out above its peers for having more certifications than any other cloud provider. With Purview, data can be managed beyond an on-premises environment to reach SaaS and multi-cloud applications. Perhaps one of the most substantial benefits of Purview, in terms of providing customers with peace of mind, is its built-in compliance. This feature works in conjunction with all current regulations and is designed to evolve with them.
Data is the currency of today’s economy. Data is being created faster than ever in more locations than organizations can track. In fact, IDC has predicted that global data will grow to more than 175 zettabytes by 2025. To put that into context, that’s 175 trillion 1GB USB drives.
