User Experience Design

For each click of the mouse or every glance at the screen, a website visitor’s experience is being shaped. Does the application or website allow the user to complete their objectives with ease, or does it act like a road block? Does a button or link deliver on expectation or does it lead to wasted time? or frustration? or abandonment? The competition is always a click away, and these “touch points” with the customer should never be arbitrarily crafted. Tallan’s User Experience Design team can help.

What is User Experience Design?

User Experience Design, or UX Design, has always been a part of product development, whether it be for a physical product or one that’s software-based. Its close cousins in product design, ergonomics and human factors are established practices that are relied on for quality assurance. UX is not simply visual design, user interface design or usability testing. UX design covers a range of disciplines that ensure a product will be useful, understandable, desirable, and elegant in functionality. Ultimately, good UX Design makes a product valuable enough that people want to purchase it and advocate its use to friends and colleagues.

In planning Web and software products, the UX process produces deliverables that act as a roadmap for the development of the code behind the scenes, with design processes that help shape the final product — that is the “design” in UX Design. It balances business requirements, user desires (or intentions or objectives), and technical feasibility for the best cost-profit ratio.
